Dedham Police Give Holiday Shoppers Tips on Avoiding Theft

5 tips for holiday shoppers.

Dedham Police are warning shoppers to be aware of theft this holiday season.

Police are asking shoppers to not leave holiday gifts visible in the car, watch for credit card theft and secure purses and wallets.

The following tips were given to residents by the Chief Michael d’Entermont and the Dedham Police Department:

 1) Do not leave purchased items visible in the car. When possible leave them in the trunk.

2) Park in areas of parking lots that have adequate lighting.

3) Make sure purses and wallets are secure on your person and you are aware of their location at all times. Leaving pocketbooks or purses unattended in a shopping cart offers a tempting target.

4) Credit cards offer convenience and security. Keep track of all of your credit cards and credit card purchases. Keep receipts to compare to your monthly statement.
