The fire has been reportedly extinguished.

Editor's Note: This article has been updated from its original post to include comments from a contractor on scene as well as the Dedham Fire Chief.

Fire crews from Dedham responded to the scene of a two-alarm fire at 139 Vine Rock St. Monday afternoon.

The blaze had been reportedly knocked down after the fire tore through the roof of the property.

"The house was vacant at the time, but we were able to put down the fire within a half hour," Dedham Fire Chief William Cullinane said at the scene.

Contractors had been working on the roof of the home at the time of the fire, though no injuries were reported.

"I was on the roof and the other workers were on another side of the roof," said Carlos Orellana, one of the contractors working on the home. "The ladder fell on a wire and caused the fire on the roof."

The owners of the property, who were not on scene, have not been contacted yet.

"Residents just bought it and they were doing renovations; I heard that no one was hurt though," said Tiffany Jacobs, a nearby resident of Grandfield Street. "The house was vacant and they had to update some building codes."

Dedham Patch will provide more information as it becomes available.
