Cops: Dedham Man Assaulted Woman, Teen in Playstation 3 Dispute

John Patterson, 39, turned himself in to police Monday evening.

arrested 39-year-old John Patterson, of Dedham, on suspicion of assaulting a woman and his teenage child Monday evening.

Police responded to a Rodgers Avenue home Monday afternoon for a report of an assault after Patterson allegedly threw his ex-girlfriend and his 17-year-old son during an argument, according to police.

The woman told responding officers that Patterson came home and wanted to confiscate a Playstation 3 from his son because the elder Patterson was mad at his son, according to officer John Nolan's report.

When Patterson found out the game system wasn't in the house, he allegedly became upset and started to break things around the home, Nolan stated. 

His ex-girlfriend then went to call the police when Patterson yanked her by the hair, grabbed the back of her neck and threw her to the ground, police said.

The son jumped in to defend his mother, but Patterson threw him against a window, bending a curtain rod, according to reports.

Patterson then fled the scene, and police put out a warrant for his arrest.

Patterson turned himself into police at 9 p.m. Monday evening and was charged with two counts of assault and one count of witness intimidation. Bail was set at $2,500.
