Cops: 2 Women Arrested for Trying to Steal 12 Bottles of Liquor

Police say two 42-year-old women stuffed $614 worth of alcohol in their clothing and purses.

Dedham Police arrested two women Sunday afternoon at BJ's Wholesale Club for allegedly stuffing $614 worth of liquor in their pants and purses.

Officers Francis McMilillan and Kevin Mahoney reported that Lisa Smythwick, 42 of Dorchester, and Theresa Smith, 42 of Everett, tried to swipe 12 bottles of alcohol.

BJ's loss prevention staff alerted police that they believed the two women had stolen merchandise.

When police approached the suspects, they found bottles stuffed in "stretch pants," shirts and in the women's purses, according to police reports.

Both women were charged with larceny. Police are investigating if Smith and Smythwick are involved in other BJ's robberies in the past month.
