Blood Trail Leads Boston Police to Alleged Dedham Thief

Boston Police arrested a Dedham man when they noticed a safe sitting near his car.

Boston Police arrested a Dedham man early Monday morning for allegedly stealing a safe from a jewelry store in Roslindale.

Police officers first noticed 46-year-old James McCart as he was parked outside of CTC Elite Jewelry with a safe sitting next to his car with the trunk open, according to a BPD press release.

McCart was pulled over a short time after and police stated they saw he had blood on his hands and a laceration on his leg.

Additional police responded to the jewelry store and found the front window shattered along with a blood trail leading from the store to the safe sitting in the street, according to the statement.

Police charged McCart with breaking and entering and possession of burglarious tools.
