4 Phones Swiped from Providence Highway AT&T Store

Police say they are searching for two Hispanic male suspects that appear on surveillance footage.

Police continue their search Thursday for two Hispanic males that allegedly stole four cell phones from AT&T on Providence Highway, Lt. Robert Nedder said.

Store employees alerted police Wednesday afternoon 15 minutes after the pair fled the store with phones that retail for $2,100. When police arrived on scene, they searched the area, but found no one matching the suspects' descriptions.

Employees told police that one male looked Hispanic, about 17 years old and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He wore a Boston Red Sox hat, black hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The other suspect also looked Hispanic, about 13 years old and 5 feet 5 inches tall. He wore a red Washington Nationals hat, black and red plaid sweatshirt and jeans, Nedder said.

The suspects grabbed phones off their displays, ripping the displays off the wall, Nedder said.

During the one-minute heist and escape, the suspects allegedly injured an 8-year-old Westwood boy as they were running out the door.

"It didn't look like they intentionally tried to hurt him," Nedder said in a phone interview.

EMS responded and treated the boy at the scene. He was not transported to the hospital for his injuries.

AT&T will turn over surveillance footage of the robbery to police as the investigation continues, Nedder said.
