Volcano Erupts in Kindergarten Classroom

Mrs. Lally, Mrs. Higley, and Miss Lauren’s kindergarten classroom at the ECEC experienced what occurs when a volcano erupts.  At the completion of reading Vacation Under the Volcano by Mary Pope Osborne, the kindergarten students mixed the necessary ingredients in order to make a volcano erupt.  This amazing science experiment was filmed for Dedham Educational television.

Reading Magic Tree House books is a fun experience for all the children in our classroom.  Mrs. Higley is a magical story teller who brings each story to life.  The children complete a corresponding craft at the conclusion of each book. 

The children are so engaged in the stories while they are enhancing and expanding upon their reading skills.  The student’s comprehension levels and vocabulary are growing by leaps and bounds.  This is all in thanks to the fabulous experience Mrs. Higley has created in our classroom.
