Donald Heald, Former Dedham Middle School Band Director, Dies at 54

Visiting hours will be held in the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St. in Dedham, Thursday, Jan. 31 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m and 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

 

Donald V. Heald, of West Roxbury, MA lost his battle with ALS on Jan. 26, 2013. He was 54-years-old. Originally, from Levittown, NY, he is former husband of Regina Bellavia of Brookline, MA, fiancée of Tracy Salazar of Stoughton, MA, and son of Frederick O. Heald of Lincolnville, ME and the late Elizabeth Lucille (Connors) Heald.

He is survived by his brothers, Frederick A. Heald of Columbus, OH, and George W. Heald of Augusta, ME, and his sister of Jane M. Heald of Ft. Wayne, IN; his cousins, Ernest W. Connors of Washington, ME, Anne E. Connors of Waterville, ME and Deborah A. Roberts of Mansfield, MA. He is also survived by many other cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Donald was band director at Dedham Middle School for 11 years and prior to that taught at Roderick Elementary School in Wrentham, MA for one year. Don was an accomplished professional musician who played with numerous bands in New York, Boston and Maine.

Visiting hours will be held in the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St. in Dedham, Thursday, Jan. 31 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and on Friday, Feb. 1 from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life with friends, food, stories and songs at the Holiday Inn, Dedham, MA from 7 p.m.-10 p.m.
