Savor the Holidays With a Bubbly Cocktail

Unwind a bit with family and friends and take a break from the hectic days that the holidays can bring.

Cheers! Here’s to you, you busy little elf! Let’s face it: the holidays can certainly be hectic.

Sometimes when we get invited to a holiday party, it seems more like a chore and it can be hard to gear up for it, especially if you’re juggling a million different tasks. Sometimes I catch myself saying, “I’d just rather stay home, toss on my pajamas and hang in for the night.”

But then I remember how much work a host puts into a party (the food alone is a massive undertaking) and how much fun it really is once you get there. It’s always great to see old friends and be introduced to new ones.

We all deserve a break and a night out once in a while. So, put aside all the wrapping, buying, volunteering and prepping and go enjoy a night out with some friends!

And speaking of breaks, give your hostess a little break, too. Instead of bringing her a typical hostess gift, why not offer to bring the ingredients for the signature cocktail? This Prosecco and pomegranate juice cocktail is the perfect combination of easy and festive. Plus, it’s non-fat and just 164 calories per glass, so you can save your calories for the buffet table.

I suggest stopping at in Dedham, where they were extremely helpful in selecting the perfect Lunetta Prosecco.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice

1/4 cup grenadine

1 (750-milliliter) bottle Prosecco or dry sparkling wine, chilled

6 lime slices (optional)

Pomegranate seeds (optional, I substituted a few cranberries to float in the glass because I had some on hand)

Directions:

Combine pomegranate juice and 1/4 cup grenadine in a 2-cup glass measure. Divide the juice mixture evenly among 6 Champagne flutes or wineglasses. Top each serving evenly with wine, and garnish each serving with lime slices and seeds, if desired.
