Louie: The Parson Russell Terrier

Louie is available for adoption through the Animal Rescue League of Boston's Dedham shelter.

Louie is an approximately 2-year-old Parson Russell terrier. He was transferred to the shelter from another animal control facility.

Louie is a very energetic and talkative guy! He is very vocal when he wants your attention, and knows all basic commands (sit, down, stay, come, shake) and is eager to learn more!

Louie enjoys being around people but will not be comfortable with handling at first. His new owners will need to understand that he will need time to gain confidence and trust before he can be picked up or handled extensively.

He seems to be more interested in people than he is with his toys, but with encouragement, will play. He also seems to get along fine with other dogs and will instigate play with them.

If they become too rough, he will correct them and back away. He cannot go home with cats or small animals because he has a very strong prey drive. Louie will absolutely need to be muzzled for the veterinarian as he does not agree with restraint, vaccines, or handling at the vets office.

He needs to go to an adults-only home, preferably with Parson Russell-savvy owners.

Louie is healthy, up to date on vaccines, and will be neutered and microchipped before he goes home.
