Five Things You Need to Know: September 20, Book Signing, Concerts, and More

Here are five things you need to know for Thursday!

Todays Weather: Today will be sunny with a high near 66.  For tonight it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 50, according to The National Weather Service.

1.Children's author Sharon Creech will be visiting The Blue Bunny Bookstore, 577 High Street, Dedham Square, tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  Creech will be reading from her new book, The Great Unexpected, and signing books.  Creech is the Newbery-winning author of Walk Two Moons and The Wanderer.  All are welcome.  For more information or to order an autographed book, call The Blue Bunny at 781-493-6568.

2. Sheep Skate Yarn & Craft will have a Kids Crochet class at 5:00 p.m.  This will be their opportunity to learn to chrochet or just boost their skills.  It's a low key, fun, drop in class. And it's just $15.

3. Join the Dedham Square Artists Guild, 553 High Street in Dedham for their Public Opening Reception of our September Artist of the Month Show: Luke Barry...Mini Artist. Proceeds from sales of Luke's artwork will go to Community Autism Resources and Luke's own Crayon Fund.  The show starts at 6:00 p.m.

4. There will be a Killer Antiques Dinner Lecture at the MIT Endicott House, 80 Haven Street in Dedham.  You’ll be challenged to pit your antiques appraisal skills against those of the experts in fun, engaging, on-the-spot challenges. And you’ll hear tales of how stolen and fraudulent antiques, faked association, and other diabolical tactics can kill.  The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and costs $75.

5. Dance Explosion, 95 Eastern Ave in Dedham is now accepting registration for our 2012/2013 dance season. Join us for them on their 31st season with classes for ages 2.5 - adult in pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, modern and lyric.
