Five Things You Need to Know: September 14, Italian Dining, Concerts, and More

Here are five things you need to know for Friday!

Todays Weather: Today will be sunny with a high near 79.  Tonight you can expect there to be a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5am. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 58, according to The National Weather Service.

1. Yiota Kariotis, 2nd place winner of So You Think You Can Dance Greece and former Dance Explosion student, will be offering  for children at the Dance Explosion Studio, 95 Eastern Avenue in Dedham.  The class are being held for the following age groups:

Ages 6-8:  4:30PM - 5:30PM

Ages 9 - 12:  5:30 - 6:30PM 

Ages 12 - 17:  6:30 - 7:30PM

2. will hold a pizza party at Dedham Parks and Recreation, 269 Common Street in Dedham.  The event will take place from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.  It costs $5 per child, and it's free for adults and children who are under 2 years old.

3. will offer a full course meal at the Endicott House, 80 Haven Street in Dedham.  The reception starts at 6:00 p.m. and costs $75.

4. TONIGHT at Sullivan Field at Memorial Park, many of your friends, neighbors, businesses, and local dignitaries will be battling away all in the name of . The Pumpkin, now in its 10th year, is a co-ed one pitch softball tournament (hour long games) that pits teams from all walks of Dedham life against each other in an “A” and “B” division. They will “battle” it out for “softball supremacy” and bragging rights of DGSL while helping out Dedham Girls Softball. That support is that along with the entry fee, the proceeds from various concessions (BBQ, slushes, chips, etc) and games that are held all weekend ALL goes to defray the costs and support the programs that DGSL offers to its players and teams.

5. will be performing live at Paradise Cafe, 565 High Street in Dedham.  Lenny Solomon's style has been compared to early Bob Dylan, Guy Clark, and Jerry Jeff Walker. Solomon began his career in the late 1960s. The concert starts at 8:00 p.m. and it's free to attend!
