Five Things You Need to Know: Oct. 3 Saving Money on Energy, Kids Yoga, and More

Toady's Weather: Today there will be a chance of rain or drizzle before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers after 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72. 1. There will be a Home Energy Efficiency & Solar Workshop at the Dedham Public Library, 43 Church St. in Dedham. Enjoy Free Refreshments while you find out if your home is a good candidate for affordable solar programs, high efficiency heating systems, and improve your home’s efficiency beyond weatherization!  The event starts at 7:00 p.m.

2. The Neponset Valley Sunrise Rotary Club will have its meeting at the Holiday Inn, 55 Ariadne Rd. in Dedham. The meeting will start at 7:30 a.m.

3. Stil Studio, 740 Legacy Place, will have a Kids Yoga class at 3:30 p.m. Classes engage children (3-6 years old) through movement, music, games and inspired Yoga-play to capture their attention and their imaginations as they refine their motor skills and understanding.  Classes end with visual imagery and relaxation exercises, teaching children to quiet both mind and body.  Just $15 to join the class!

4. Kids 8 years and older can come to Sheep Skate Yarn & Craft and learn to knit or advance their skills.  This is a drop-in class so there is no commitment.  The class starts at 5:00 p.m. and costs just $15.

5. Breast Cancer Awareness Month: The popular children's author, Judy Blume, announced that she was battling breast cancer last month.  And in her blog she writes about her struggles, and her hope:
