The Dedham Square Artist Guild is pleased to announce that, beginning this winter, a wide variety of art classes will be offered in collaboration with the Dedham Community House (DCH). Classes are held in DCH’s ground floor space and taught by Guild artists.

Quilted Faces Class January 14, 2013 5:00 pm
Come take a look at a Charmed Woman or Nature Goddess hanging in DSAG and sign up to create your own fabric face! We'll cover fabric selection, fussy-cutting, feature placements, free-motion stitching and so much more. Must bring a pair of sharp fabric scissors to first class and a sewing machine that can drop its feed dogs to subsequent classes. Ages 12 and up. Introduction to Precious Metal Clay

Make your own fine silver jewelry using the fun medium of Precious Metal Clay! Sculpt, carve, stamp and shape this ingenious clay into pendants, earrings, rings and more! PMC is a mixture of fine silver particles and organic clay material. The clay is shaped into the desired design and fired in a kiln. Upon firing, the organic clay material is burned off, leaving the design in just the precious metal (fine silver). Students will have the opportunity to create a minimum of two pieces that will be fired in between class days and then polished and finished during the last class. Ages 14 and up. Half Day Thursday January 31, 2013 1:00 pm
Learn to make a bowl out of clay using the pinch technique. Add surface elements using the slip and score technique. While you wait for the clay to dry a bit, create a Valentine's Day card to take with you. Finish the bowl with nontoxic paint. The instructor will coat the bowl with a clear glaze and fire. Bowls can be picked up at the Dedham Square Artists Guild but not in time for Valentine's Day gifting. Ages first grade and up. Instructor: Lisa W.B. Walker, Dedham Square Artist Guild
