Oakdale PTO Offers Parents a Night Out – Friday April 11th …

Every so often, special people “come along.” We were reminded of this one morning, after we crossed paths with Oakdale Elementary School PTO President, Kim Lynch.

A fresh cup of hot tea in hand, and her mind racing through the “hundred things to do that day”, we stopped briefly to exchange pleasantries.

“It just never ends,” Kim began, “every day we just keep looking for ways to get these things done for the kids at school.”

Kim asked us if we`d like to “mention” Oakdale Elementary School`s next fundraising event. For weeks, she has been working on the “Oakdale School – Slide in to Spring Event.”

Fresh off a successful grant writing proposal, that teamed the school up with Jerry Lavoie and the folks at the Dedham Institution for Savings, the Oakdale PTO was able to secure 30 new Apple IPads for the school`s 300 plus students.

This comes on the heels of countless other affairs, both large and small, that were designed to help the school and it`s students create funds, to implement programs and events, otherwise not possible.

On Friday, April 11, 2014, from 7-11pm, at the American Legion Hall, 155 Eastern Ave. in Dedham, the Oakdale PTO will hold a special “Parents Night Out.” Mrs. Lynch told us with a smile, that “everyone (especially those of us with children at home) can use a couple of hours away.” “There will be food, drink, raffles, and an unbelievable amount of gift packages available to bid on.”

The Post`s Big Screen TV`s will be featuring the first Red Sox-Yankees battle of the season, and every penny collected will go to the school. So mark your calendar, plan a night out with your wife or husband, get the guys or girls together, and show Oakdale PTO President Kim Lynch that you care… about her and those 300 plus wonderful little boys and girls that she works so hard for all year!

Tickets are available (kimlynch4@verizon.net) for $20. Per person - $35. Per couple or $25. each at the door! See you on Friday April 11th.
