"Roundup: The Elephant in the Room," What chemicals are you serving for dinner?

During this presentation co-sponsored by WCPP & Wellesley Free Library, Dr. Stehanie Seneff will present compelling data from research at MIT regarding the herbicide glyphosate and why it “may be the most biologically disruptive chemical in our environment.” Dr. Seneff will explain what the main chemical ingredient of Roundup (glyphosate) does to our bodies and those of our children and how we can avoid exposure which has been linked to various cancers and other illnesses. This chemical is routinely used on the foods we eat, most notably corn and soy.   Come learn more about this compelling subject and the growing concerns surrounding agricultural practices and how they impact our health. Dr. Seneff is a Senior Research Scientist at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. She received the B.S. degree in Biophysics in 1968, the M.S. and E.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1980, and the Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1985, all from MIT.
In recent years, Dr. Seneff has focused her research interests back towards biology. She is concentrating mainly on the relationship between nutrition and health. Since 2011, she has written 10 papers (7 as first author) in various medical and health-related journals on topics such as modern day diseases (e.g., Alzheimer, autism, cardiovascular diseases), analysis and search of databases of drug side effects using NLP techniques, and the impact of nutritional deficiencies and environmental toxins on human health.
The Wellesley Cancer Prevention Project (WCPP) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that studies the relationship between illnesses and the environment with the goal of reducing health risk factors for residents of Wellesley and surrounding communities. wcpponline.org
