Join us on Friday December 7th from 6pm to 8pm,
for our opening reception showcasing work from our December Artists of the Month: Photographer Alice Donaldson and Jewelry Artists Monica Fairbairn and Barbara Trainer.
About the Artists
Barbara Trainer's, jewelry designs are created from a love of unusual, quirky necklaces, earrings and bracelets she was drawn to for herself. She began working with sterling silver and hand-blown glass to craft pieces that caught and reflected light and expressed her love of color in all its variations and combinations.
Monica Fairbairn creates vibrant, colorful designs to fashion unusual necklaces made of beads from Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Her inspiration comes from a cornucopia of materials adapted for adornment in traditional cultures all over the world, and recalls old ideas transformed into her own modern creations. Her work has been shown in local MA galleries, most recently Dedham Square Artist Guild, The Shop at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, Karenna Maraj collection as well as Open Studios in Jamaica Plain, Watertown, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Cambridge, Dedham, Charlestown, and Jamaica in the West Indies. She lives and works in Watertown, MA
Photography is my passion. I love the way light plays on the landscape, and its diversity of textures, shapes and intricacies of the land. My travels have inspired respect and admiration for the beauty and grandeur of this world. The goal is to capture this beauty in photographs, and to evoke various emotions from the onlooker.
