Wind Advisory in Effect Through This Afternoon

Dedham, and much of New England, is under a wind advisory today in anticipation of 20 to 25 mph winds and possible 50 mph gusts.

Keep an eye on tree limbs and power wires while out and about today.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for all of southern New England, including Dedham, that began at 4 a.m. this morning and remaining in effect until 4 p.m. this afternoon in anticipation of possible "damaging winds." 

"The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a wind advisory ... for strong west to northwest winds," the advisory states.

According to NWS there is a chance for southwest winds between 20 to 25 mph with possible gusts as fast as 50 mph today.

"These winds will be capable of downing tree limbs and branches, [possibly] causing isolated power outages."

Driving may also be difficult, especially for large vehicles with high profiles, the NWS stated. 

Wind advisories are issued by the NWS when sustained winds are expected to be between 31 and 39 mph or gusts will be between 46 and 57 mph.
