Week in Review: Dog Park Stirs Controversy, 'Graphic' Books Disturb Parents

Dedham mom Ann Hunnewell has called upon Urban Outfitters to relocate its "graphic" books to an adult-only section. She has started a Facebook page to help rally other parents against the books.

While dog owners are enjoying the new pilot dog park on Common Street, Father Dermot Roache pointed out to the Board of Selectmen that the park - with up to 70 dogs visiting in a day - is located next to the home he shares with three other SMA Fathers. He has argued that the selectmen should not grant a one-year extension for the temporary park.

The DHS boy's basketball team clinched a playoff berth this week on the road against Weston on the back of guard Rohit Kumar.

Town officials will install two speed humps on Whiting Avenue between Walnut and River streets in hopes of slowing down drivers that neighbors say speed over a hill, putting residents and kids in danger.

The new Avery Elementary School is almost complete, and Dedham High School seniors received a tour of the new school - located behind theirs - this week. Seventeen seniors will help transition currenty Avery students into their new school this spring.
