Mother Brook Arts and Community Center Will Move into The Old Avery School in March


Since 2008 there were talks about building an arts center for the community.  But it will now become a reality.

The Dedham Board of Selectmen signed the Old Avery School lease over to the Mother Brook Arts and Community Center for Mar. 1, during their meeting Thursday night.

"This is a night many of us have waited for, for a long time," Vice Chairman, Mike Butler said. "I support the lease as written and I think that we are keeping our promise from town meeting."

Norwood Market Robbed at Gunpoint

At approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, an unknown suspect robbed AJ’s Market at gunpoint, Norwood Police said in a statement.

The suspect was described as a black male 5’2” to 5’4” in height. He wore a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt and a red bandana over his face. The suspect produced a small black handgun and robbed the clerk of an unknown amount of cash before making his escape in a small red motor vehicle down Route 1A.

Four Arrested After Brawl Breaks Out at Stoughton Baby Shower


A baby shower at Club Luis de Camoes on Porter Street in Stoughton the evening of Saturday, Jan. 12 turned into a full-fledged brawl that took 20 police officers nearly an hour to quell. Four from Brockton ended up getting arrested, including one juvenile.

Nearly 200 people, including children, were at the baby shower, which started at 9 p.m. A fight, which quickly escalated, broke out a little after 11:30 p.m. Stoughton Police responded, but needed assistance from three other local police departments as well as the State Police and Norfolk County Sheriff's Office to quell the brawl.

The three adult men pleaded not guilty to charges at Stoughton District Court on Monday, Jan. 14 and were released on 1,000 cash bail each.
