Question of the Day: What to do With the Soon-to-be Old Avery?

Neighbors met this week to pitch ideas, but what do you think?

Dedham residents have heard that the town needs several new facilities. From a fire station to a police department, and from a senior center to a youth center, there are many people calling each one a must-have.

With the property at 123 High Street - the current - becoming vacant in less than a year, residents met on Monday to kick around ideas for future uses.

Avery Reuse Committee chair Joe Heisler said Wednesday that not only is the committee thinking about a permanent use to the 1920s building, but neighbors want a temporary use as well, so it doesn't become a magnet for unsightly activity.

What do you think the town should do with the soon-to-be old Avery? Tear it down? Rehabilitate it into artist studios? Renovate it and make it a community center?
