Pet of the Week: Meet Sassa

Sassafrass is a 2-year-old cutie pie who is looking for her new home. She was originally found as a stray and transferred to the Animal Rescue League by an Animal Control Facility. We believe her to be a pit bull mix, but your guess is as good as ours!

Sassy (as we affectionately call her) is a joy to be around. She is quite affectionate! No known aggression or guarding issues that we have seen here.

She is a favorite for the volunteers to take overnight and they have reported that she is very well behaved in the home setting after she becomes familiar.

She has a moderate energy level, and is highly trainable. Sassy knows all her commands! Sit, down, stay, paw. Works well for treats. She loves playing with other dogs, and seems to get along well with them.

She doesnt seem to mind cats, but her new owner will want to be knowledgable in regards to cat and dog introductions if they have a cat in the home. We would recommend she go to a home with children ages 12 and older as she can be jumpy and may accidently knock a small child over in excitement.

Sassy's only issue that we have seen here is that she can be fearful of strange looking people. (Not fearful of strangers otherwise.) She will growl but does not lunge, snap, or bite. She does recover easily. She would benefit by taking her to the pet store to meet lots of people and new things/environments.

Sassy is currently up to date on all vaccines, and has had a health exam by our veterinarian. She is and microchipped and her adoption fee is $265.00.
