Patch Picks: 5 Places to Staycation

April vacation is soon approaching, and most families are probably looking for ways to save a bit of money while spending time with each other - especially considering the soaring gas prices.

Here are five suggestions for "staycations" in and around Dedham.

1. Wilson Mountain - We know. It's cold. But give it a few weeks and take the family for a hike, pack lunch and enjoy nature.
2. Area Museums - Take a peek at this week's  column and take Colleen's advice. Swing by the library and purchase museum passes for cheap.
3. Franklin Zoo - Celebrate Earth Day at the Franklin Park Zoo on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Meet zookeepers of all sorts of animals and take part in a whole host of activities throughout the day.

5. Fenway - Looking to entertain the older kids during the week? Brave the crowds and head into Boston for Marathon Monday (just take the train), and hang out near Fenway Park for the annual 11 a.m. game.
