UPDATED: More Power Outages for Dedham

After Hurricane Sandy it seemed that the town wouldn't experience any more power outages.  Last night proved many wrong.

Marisa Podolski lives in the Riverdale area.

"We didn't lose power during Sandy, but suddenly the power went out on my whole street," she tweeted.

The Jefferson at Dedham Station also lost power.  But what the residents don't understand is the reason behind why every other building, including Legacy Place, still had power.

"Our complex losing power single handedly, jumps the number of powerless customers within Dedham by 300 customers," S.B., a resident of the complex, said.

The Dedham Fire Chief was at the building this morning inspecting the area.  He was concerned that there were pitch black hallways for 300 residents.

"I spoke with a NSTAR liason and they told me that their power should be back on by noon," he said.

But another resident found the statement hard to believe.

"NSTAR is telling us that the lights should be on by Thursday," she said. "Where's my light?"

She was also frustrated because she needs to use an oxygen machine, but was unable to Tuesday night.

"I had to sit by the window for air," she said.  "I know another person who needs to be on a machine and he went to a shelter this morning."

Many residents of the area were unsure of the reason behind the outage.

"I don't even know why we lost power, the rain wasn't that bad and we survived Sandy," another resident said.  "There's a guy from NSTAR who told us that they shut us off on purpose, in order to fix something else."

Patch tried to get a hold of NSTAR and left messages for them to find out what exactly happened.  But we have yet to recieve a response.

In the meantime, the number of outages have been going down.  Around 8 a.m. the number was close to 700, as of 10 a.m. that number dropped to 572 homes that are without power in Dedham.

Update (12:06 p.m.): NSTAR workers are trying their best to get everyone's power restored before Thursday.  As of 12 p.m. there are 256 homes without power, according to NSTAR.  And the apartment complex did recieve power around 11:47 a.m.
