Looking Ahead: Memorial Day Plans, DHS Sports Wrap Regular Seasons

A look at some of the stories we'll be following this week at Dedham Patch.

As we enter the final week of May, we look forward to June - and hopefully better weather. But before we get there, here are a view stories we'll be following in Dedham this week.

  • Memorial Day is just a week away and while volunteers were planning to place flags at gravestones Monday afternoon, we'll have the full plans for May 30.
  • The regular season for softball, baseball, lacrosse and tennis teams wrap up this week, with a couple looking forward to the MIAA playoffs.
  • School Committee and School Building Rehabilitation Committee members will take a tour Monday evening of the new Avery School to see the progress made on the new elementary school on schedule to open next spring.
  • As always, we'll have the latest police and fire incidents posted throughout the week.
  • The Planning Board will meet Thursday, and hear from town officials on their plans for the canoe launches on the Charles River, and proposals from Panda Express, which is planning to open in the Dedham Mall.
