Looking Ahead: Debate Time, Spring Sports Kick Into Gear

We'll be following the debates happening this week, other election news and plenty of other stuff as the week rolls on.

With the town election on the horizon - it's Saturday for those of you who don't know - and that means this week is full of debates, forums and other election news.

Take a look at some of the stories Dedham Patch is covering this week, and let us know if there is something else that should be on the radar.

  • The Dedham Educational Partnership will hold a candidates forum Monday evening at , moderated by Daniel Driscoll. Candidates in the contested races for Parks and Recreation, School Committee and Board of Selectmen will state their cases for election.
  • On Wednesday, candidates for Board of Selectmen will tape a debate at Dedham Television that will air throughout the rest of the week leading up to Saturday's election.
  • The Finance Committee will hear pitches from the school department on its $30 million-plus budget and from supporters of the on Tuesday. The committee could vote on recommending those and other budget items that evening.
  • Weather permitting, all spring sports teams will open up their respective seasons this week.
  • The final piece of steel will go into the ground at the new Avery School site this week, and on Thursday morning, the school department will hold a small ceremony for the occasion. Steve Grossman, the state treasurer, is expected to attend.
