Letter to the Editor: Support Gabriel Gomes for U.S. Senate

Over the years, Dedham residents have experienced continuous increases in their monthly cable bills. That is because Congressman Markey has supported legislation that stifled competition in the cable industry and eliminated jobs.

Dear Editor:

I am writing to urge Dedham voters to vote for Gabriel Gomez for U. S. Senate in the Tuesday, June 25th special U. S. Senate Election for the following reasons:

Gabriel Gomez is a U. S. Naval Academy graduate, has served both as a Navy aircraft carrier pilot and as a Navy seal with distinction.  He will stand with Dedham’s active military personnel and veterans in the U. S. Senate.

Gabriel Gomez was a principal with Boston based Advent International.  In this position, he has helped grow smaller regional businesses into national household names, including Dedham’s Lululemon Athletica, located in Legacy Place.  He believes that onerous taxes and excessive regulations are barriers to job creation.  Born to immigrants from Columbia, Gabriel is the perfect example of the American dream.

Over the years, Dedham residents have experienced continuous increases in their monthly cable bills.  That is because Congressman Markey has supported legislation that stifled competition in the cable industry and eliminated jobs.

Congressman Markey has accepted over $1 million from the telecommunications industry, which he is supposed to be regulating.

In 1993, Congressman Markey voted to increase taxes on Social Security benefits on seniors earning $34,000 or more.  In 2000, Congressman Markey voted against repeal of this tax on these Social Security benefits.

In 2002, Congressman Markey voted against the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, which has kept our country safe.  In 2011, Markey voted against extending the Patriot Act.

In 2010, Congressman Markey voted for Obamacare, which he proclaims as his “proudest” vote.

Obamacare will actually lead to increase health insurance premiums, cuts in Medicare, new taxes on medical equipment devices made by Massachusetts firms.  Obamacare will reduce the quality and availability of health care in our nation, which currently has the best health care system in the world.

Gabriel Gomez’s focus will be on the economy, creating jobs here in Massachusetts, simplifying our Federal tax code, and helping America achieve energy independence by supporting the Keystone pipeline, which will create 50,000 good paying jobs for Americans.  He will work with Senators on both sides of the aisle to accomplish these goals for the people of Dedham and Massachusetts.

Gabriel Gomez stands for term limits for Congress, against career politicians, and a pay freeze for Congress.  Gabriel understands that Dedham’s families have to balance their budgets all the time.  He supports a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.  Congressman Markey has voted against the Balanced Budget Amendment five times in his 37 year tenure in the U. S. House of Representatives.

Congressman Markey has stands with Wall Street, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Washington K Street lobbyists and special interest groups.  Gabriel Gomez will stand with Washington St., High St., East St. and all the streets in Dedham.  He will support the general, everyday interests of the people of Dedham.  The choice is clear.  Vote Gabriel Gomez on Tuesday, June 25th in the Special U. S. Senate Election.  Thank You.
