Get Out: 5 Things to Do This Weekend, Origami Class, Concerts and More

1. Bedtime Storytime with Catching Joy

Where/When: Blue Bunny Books and Toys, 577 High St. in Dedham/ Friday, Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: Join them for a FREE and fun bedtime storytime and benefit for the non-profit "Solutions at Work". They will be reading stories about staying warm this winter, and hosting a mitten and hat collection with Catching Joy. New or gently used (and clean) hats, mittens, and scarves will be collected for the cause. The store is also encouraging participants to wear pj's. Cookies and milk, and a fun craft will also be provided.

2. Chad Verbeck in Concert

Where/When: Paradise Cafe, 565 High St. in Dedham./ Saturday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Chad's roots stem back to his early days in school and church choirs and bands, playing with his family around the campfire and jamming with friends at school. His songwriting often finds its charge from life experiences, but also digs deep into the imagination of this crafty wordsmith.

3. Red Lantern Origami Class

Where/When:  Bamboo, 55 Ariadne Rd. in Dedham./ Saturday, Jan. 26 at 12 p.m.

Why Go:  This unique origami class will feature red lanterns that are made from lucky envelopes to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year. They are regarded as a basic symbol of the Chinese culture, a symbol of brightness, happiness and reunion.

4. Red Sox Kid Nation Winterfest

Where/When: 4 Yawkey Way in Boston./ Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m.

Why Go: America’s most beloved ballpark welcomes fans of all ages to meet and compete with Red Sox players Will Middlebrooks and Daniel Nava “Red Sox Kid Nation Winterfest,” presented by Hood, a free and open-to-the-public event where gamers will have the opportunity to face-off against their favorite Sox in “MLB 12: The Show.”

5. Kids Craft

Where/When: Sheep Skate Yarn & Craft, 549 High St. in Dedham./ Sunday, Jan. 27 at 4:30 p.m.

Why Go:  This is a great time for kids 8-years-old and older to get together at the Sheep Skate table and create.  Each week they do something different.  It could be clay, beads, weaving, jewelry, you never know.
