Funeral for Richard Dykas Set for Friday

The Dedham native died in a single-car crash in Maine on Sunday.

Funeral services for Richard E. Dykas will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, and visiting hours from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at George F. Doherty & Sons.

Dykas died in a single-car crash in Penobscot, Maine Sunday.

His passenger, Steven F. Nackley, was injured in the accident.

Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), where both Dykas and Nackley served as assistant football coaches, will hold a remembrance ceremony Wednesday for Dykas.

The flag on the MMA campus flew at half-staff in honor of Dykas as the college community mourned.

The MMA football team is expected to attend services before it plays Bridgewater State University on Saturday.
