Lifesaving at the Dedham Library

On Monday evening, at the Dedham Library, Amber Socci, Library Employee and Dedham Resident, observed a woman who had some cake and went to read her newspaper. After a while she heard someone say, "Oh No," and then soon after heard Sarah MacDonald, who was volunteering at the time say something to the same effect.

Socci then got up to see what was going on and saw that the patron was kneeling on the floor choking. MacDonald told her to call 911, but at that time no one had performed the Heimlich. Socci told MacDonald to call while she proceeded to perform the Heimlich on the woman.

The woman coughed up the cake and was catching her breath before she was moved to one of the back offices until the ambulance arrived. She was checked and was found to be okay and did not leave in the ambulance.
