Dedham TV to Host Election Forum on March 28

As of February 25, 2013, the deadline for submitting nomination papers has expired. Candidates have received letters that have declared candidacy for a local office within the Town of Dedham. And are invited to the candidate forum.

Dedham TV will be holding a one candidate forum on Thursday, Mar. 28, 2013, beginning at 7:30 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. at their studio location: 502 Sprague St. in Dedham.

DTV’s Political Edge Host Greg Agnew will moderate the forum. He will be joined by a co-host to be named later.

The forum will last approximately 1 1⁄2 hours. During this time, all candidates will be asked live questions provided to the host via e-mail (edge@dedhamtv.org), facebook (facebook.com/dedhamtv), and twitter (@gregagnew). No other questions (such as questions from the audience) will be allowed during the forum. All media has been invited to sit in the audience and report on the event. Those interested may ask questions via the aforementioned methods as soon as this event has been made public.

Before the questioning period begins, each candidate for each office will be allowed a one- minute opening statement. After questioning, each candidate will be afforded a one-minute closing statement.

With 9 offices and 16 candidates, this allows for 32 minutes of opening and closing statements in total, and one hour of questioning divided equally amongst each candidate (about 3 1⁄2 minutes per candidate if everyone chooses to appear). Our thoughts are that most candidates for uncontested offices will not participate, which will allow us to expand the questioning periods for those who choose to participate.

This broadcast will be aired LIVE, and will air repeatedly up until Election Day.

Candidates for Board for Board of Selectmen will be able to pre-tape answers to questions as the Board of Selectmen Meeting conflicts with the event on Mar. 28, 2013.
