Dedham High School Grad is Featured in Justin Timberlake Commercial

Dedham's Mandi Mellen had no idea that a Target commercial gig for Justin Timberlake's new album, would end with a surprise appearance from the man himself.

After graduating from Dedham High School, Mandi Mellen moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Recently, Mellen was casted for a Target commercial to promote Justin Timberlake's new album, and had no idea that he would make a personal appearance.

"We all practiced singing his new song "Mirrors."  Each of us sang it individually and we were grouped up to sing it together," Mellen said.  "None of us knew that Justin was actually going to be in the commercial."

In the commercial, Timberlake surprises the group while their singing.  Mellen is positioned on the left side of the guy in the group.

"It was the third time we had sung it and all of a sudden I hear clapping and someone go 'That Sounds good.'  But me and the guy next to me continued to sing! And then we realized what was going on, and I go "Oh s#@%."  I was in total shock," she said.

Mellen's parents were very proud to see their daughter in the commercial.  But more importantly, they're happy to see that she's pursuing her dream through hard work and persistence.

"Mandi has been acting and singing since a young child always knowing that she would have a career acting and writing," Elaine Mellen, Mandi's mother said. "Seeing her in the commercial, on the way to achieve her dream, made me and her father so happy for her!"
