Drivers in Dedham Square saw yet more construction today on Washington Street. NSTAR Gas, who has worked to replace gas lines on Bryant and Washington streets for approximately two weeks, will continue doing construction down High Street by the courts. 

At around 3 p.m., Dedham Police officer Kevin Concannon said he spent the day directing cars since 7:30 a.m. Concannon said he hoped to leave on time, but as he waited patiently, he could see that there was a possibility that he would be staying late. He was not at all upset, he said he just wanted the safety of Dedham residents and NSTAR workers to be looked after.

Beautification of Eastern Avenue Island

The island freshly installed at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and High Street got a little manicure today. Dedham Civic Pride planted a series of mums to make the appearance of the island more appealing.

Amber Socci, an employee of the Dedham Public Library, said she thinks drivers seem to be more aware of pedestrians now that the island is there.

Dedham Pottery Open House

Resident Jim Kaufman will help host an open house for famed Dedham Pottery tomorrow night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at The Heart of the Square. The historic pieces will be for sale, and Kaufman - an expert on Dedham Pottery - will be present to discuss the iimmportance and history of the pieces.
