5 Things to Do This Weekend: June 24-26

Movies, bowling, swimming and singing - we've got your weekend mapped out for you!

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Dedham Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

  1. Family Movie Night: Curious George
    Where/When: Friday from 8:00ish to 10:00ish (movie starts at dusk) at  Why go:  Bring your blankets and popcorn – it’s time for a family movie on the lawn of DCH. It’s a great way to start the weekend!
    Pricing: Free.

  2. Literary Arts and Music Festival
    Where/When: Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at Why go: Borders is celebrating their one year anniversary this weekend with an ongoing schedule of readings, book signings, and live music in the store. On Saturday at noon Lisa Lamme, author of The Gypsy Kitchen Cookbook – Transform Almost Nothing into Something Delicious with Not-So-Secret Ingredients will be signing books. Check the website for other events, including Gospel Music with Stanley Porter and a Hunger Games event.
    Pricing: Free.

  3. Karaoke
    Where/When: Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Why go:  Seriously, do you have to ask why to do karaoke? Please, just do us all a favor and promise not to sing Poison’s Every Rose Has its Thorns. Instead, I’d like to recommend Electric Avenue by Eddie Grant or Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper. I promise you’ll be a big hit.
    Pricing: Free with purchase of 1 drink; 21+

  4. Community Swim
    Where/When: Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pool
    Why go: By Sunday the rain should be gone. What better way to spend a sunny Sunday than lounging at the pool? DCH opens to the public on the last Sunday of every month so pack your sunscreen!
    Pricing: $10/person or $20/family


  5. Where/When: Sunday from 7 - 11 p.m. at Why go: This will be a fun event to . Fourteen bowling teams will compete for bragging rights, and there will also be an auction and raffles.  With your help, will become the first fully accessible playground in Dedham!
    Pricing: $25/ticket, 21+
