5 Things to Do This Weekend: Feb. 25 - 27

If idle hands do ol' Red Horn's dirty work, then see to it that those hands are thoroughly occupied this particularly eventful weekend. Not accounting for the rock and roll, a food pantry fundraiser and some other communal festivities should be perfectly

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

  1. Where/When:
    Friday morning.
    Why go: to new beauty store. It will open next to the .
    Pricing: Depends on what fancy inside the new store.
  2. Oscar Viewing Party
    Where/When: At this Sunday starting at 8 p.m.
    Why go:  For movie buffs who get supercharged by pretentious award ceremonies, you’ll find some like minds to share the experience in full sound, as well as free snacks and a chance to win a free year-long Netflix subscription for correct winner predictions.
    Pricing: Free (excluding any regular menu items or movie-themed cocktails)

  3. Where/When:  9:30 p.m. Saturday at the
    Why go:  If you like some good old-fashioned, early-style blues and rock n’ roll, this band will supply the lubricant for a good time; all else, a history lesson.
    Pricing:  Free, unless you get thirsty.
  4. New Flicks Featured at DTC
    Where/When:Barney's Vision debuts Friday with five shows, and Race to Nowhere plays at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
    Why go:Race to Nowhere is a documentary on the state of the education system in the U.S., and Barney's Vision is a love story Drama featuring Paul Giamatti.
    Pricing:  $7.50/$9.50

  5. Where/When: Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at castle.
    Why go: To benefit the .
    Pricing: Any donations welcomed; a recommended $10 will allow charitable attendees to enjoy a bowl of soup as well as a porcelain bowl (made by afternoon ceramics students) to take home, an emblematic reminder that some bowls remain empty.
