5 Things To Do This Weekend: Aug. 26-28

In this Hurricane Irene-themed edition of Get Out, we let you know five things you can do this weekend in Dedham.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Dedham Patch is coming to the rescue.

Irene is setting her eyes on Massachusetts, and high winds and rain could smash into Dedham this weekend. With that in mind, we know you might need help finding something to do.

  1. The Unholy Mackerels
    When/Where:
    Friday, 6:30 p.m. or so at
    Why go: Listen to some of the best tracks this local band has to offer as they warm up for a fund-raising show in October.
    Pricing: Free, unless you want a pint.
  2. When/Where: Friday, 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 18Why go: Keep an eye out for a friend and East Dedham native as he recovers from a 40-foot fall in July.
    Pricing: $10, but bring plenty of cash for a raffles and silent auctions.
  3. When/Where: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Boston-Dedham Business Park on Sprague Street.
    Why go: Learn to tumble like a cyclone or be a direct hit on the trampolines at this festival. Although music and food will be outdoors, if it rains, you've got options!

  4. Country Night at Kings
    When/Where:
    Saturday, 8 p.m. at
    Why go: What better way to prepare for potentially damaging winds than taking part in a good 'ol fashioned hoedown? After all, most country folk are used to tornadoes.
    Pricing: No cover charge
  5. When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westwood Masonic Building, 655 High St., Westwood
    Why go: Help those whom Hurricane Irene could injure as she barrels up the East Coast this weekend by donating a pint of blood.
    Pricing: Free
