5 Things to Do This Weekend

The weekend means many different things to different people; here are some recreation options tailored to suit any walk of life and guaranteed to benefit more than any single person. After all, that's what community's all about.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Dedham Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

  1. Life Teen Trivia Night
    Where/When: At Friday at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7).
    Why go: Alongside a night of knowledge-testing fun, there will be a cash bar, a 50/50 raffle, and appetizers provided by Applebee’s and Bertucci’s; proceeds will go towards a Life Teen retreat to World Youth Day in August. 
    Pricing: $20
  2. Second Annual Clothing Swap
    Where/When: Saturday 12 to 2 p.m. at .
    Why go:  To get rid of all those outgrown garments and acquire some secondhand at a dirt cheap flat-price; proceeds support the First Church. 
    Pricing: $5/person with clothing to bring to the table; otherwise $10 lets you take home as much as you can carry (i.e. no forklifts).  Concessions will also be available for purchase.
  3. Dennis McCarthy Solo Acoustic
    Where/When:  9 p.m. Friday at the .
    Why go:  To eat, drink, and be merry in the Irish tradition, with the aid of a local unplugged axeman pumping out the tunes like a well-oiled keg tap.
    Pricing:  Free, unless you get thirsty.

  4. Where/When:  At the this Friday at 6:30.
    Why go:  To offer support for those who boldly take to the stage what they’ve learned from class, defying any whims of self-consciousness. 
    Pricing:  Free
  5. “Alice in Wonderland” Middle School Play
    Where/When: Thursday and Friday at Towles Auditorium; curtain at 6:30 p.m.
    Why go: To embrace the performing arts and support the Nobles middle school’s finest young thespians as they put on a spirited rendition of Lewis Carrol’s highly-imaginative classic.
