5 Things To Do in a Dedham Blizzard

Staying home from work or school today? Not sure what to do with your free time? Dedham Patch has 5 great activities for you to do.

The big blizzard that weather forecasters have anticipated all week is finally here, the schools are closed, and you’re at home for the day.

Not sure how to spend your time today? Dedham Patch has some suggestions for you.

  1. Shovel or snow blow, just get that snow out of the way. The everyone to shovel their sidewalks for other residents to walk on, and if your neighbor didn't or can't get to theirs, help them out a bit. Also, don't toss the snow into the street - it'll just get plowed back into your driveway.
  2. Build a snowman. Take some time today to have some fun in the snow. Build a snowman with your family or friends. Make sure your snowman is properly dressed for the weather — give him a bright winter hat and a scarf. Then take his picture and send it to us at Dedham Patch by e-mailing timothyr@patch.com.
  3. Go sledding. We’ve asked many residents where they go sledding in the winter and the answer comes down to either the , or the . Put on your snowsuit, grab your sled and head to your favorite hill for a few good runs. 
  4.  Go exploring. Head on over to Wilson Mountain today and go exploring on the trails. Or walk along the Charles River by accessing trails behind . You can put on some snow shoes and hike through the trails, or just grab your boots and trudge through the snow. While you’re there, look for animal tracks and try to figure out what furry creatures are living in the area.
  5. Winter cleaning. Make room in your closets for all of those new outfits by donating the old ones. You can drop off lightly used clothing in donation bins scattered throughout Dedham.
