This Week at the Library: August 5-10, 2013

It promises to be another exciting summer-fun-filled week at the Dedham Public Library!

On Tuesday, the day will begin with storytime at the Main Library at 10:30am, but make sure you don't venture too far because you'll want to be back at 2:00pm for the Creature Teachers Animal Show on the lawn.

Wednesday will kick off with a 10:30am storytime at the Endicott Branch. In the afternoon, older children (ages 7+) will want to head to the Main Library for a chess class, starting at 3:00pm. At 7:00pm author Dennis Vanasse will be at the Main Library to discuss his books Stand Tall Against Bullying and I Am Special Too. Teachers and parents alike will benefit from this program.

Thursday is the much-anticipated Annual Teddy Bears' Picnic. Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed toy along for the fun. They'll be treated to juice, cookies, and a concert by Philip Alexander. The event will be held from 10:00am to noon on the lawn of the Endicott Estate.

Finally, don't forget about the Summer Reading Program! Children should continue reading and recording their completed books in their book logs. Art contest entries are due by Wednesday, August 7th and book logs are due at the end of next week.

It's a great week to visit the library--we hope to see you soon!
