Getting Ready for Fall at the Library

Is it really the end of August already? It was such a fun and eventful summer at the library that the time just flew by!

We were pleased to have hundreds (yes, HUNDREDS!) of enthusiastic children participate in this year's Summer Reading Program. Kids of all ages attended storytimes, concerts, "Christmas in July" craft programs, Lego playtime, and our annual Teddy Bears' Picnic. Those who turned in their completed book logs each received a free, brand new book and a certificate of accomplishment. We will continue to accept book logs through the end of the week.

As families are wrapping up their summer fun and planning for the start of the school year, we at the library are hard at work setting our fall schedule of events.

Like last year, we will have weekly drop-in storytimes at both library locations, author visits at the Main Library, and special monthly children's programs. We also look forward to expanded offerings at the Endicott Branch, including a parent-child literacy playgroup, a robotics presentation for ages 10-14, and a genealogy lecture for family history researchers. Bookmark or download our events calendar at http://library.dedham-ma.gov/calendar.

We wish everyone good cheer over the upcoming Labor Day Weekend and success in the new school year. And, as always, we hope to see you at the library this fall!
