Quality Softball Name of the Game for 10U Dedham Girls Softball this Spring!

"Take a Peek" as the Future Looks Bright on the Softball Diamonds of Dedham thanks to 10U thanks to great coaching and amazing play on the field.

The Future Looks Bright on the Softball Diamonds of Dedham thanks to 10U!

Now that Memorial Day has passed and summer is right around the corner, the warm weather of this week will hopefully spur you to come by and watch the great softball being played by the 3 teams that represent Dedham Girls Softball at the 10U level. Like their “big sisters” at 14U, the Dedham Savings, Roche Brothers and Trethewey Brothers teams have been battling each other and our wonderful rival visitors from Parkway Girls Softball on all the great Park and Rec maintained fields of Dedham this spring, and with 2 weeks to go in the spring there have been nothing but great action and smiles on and off the field!

John Coyle, John Greaney, and Dave Corsi skipper the squad sponsored by our longtime great supporter Dedham Savings. Caroline Coyle and Colleen Corsi have been making life miserable for opposing batters as they have stood tall on the Dedham Savings mound all season. Completing their battery behind the plate Ally Flagg has done yeoman’s work running the show, but she has had great help from “Double-duty’ Coyle, Alyssa Eliot, and, most impressively, the youngest catcher in the “system”, 8 year old Sarah Goode. Strikes galore have been the calling card for these Dedham Savings batteries, but when the ball does get into play, Giulianna Desimone, Sahara Hayes, and Hana Bevilacqua have been flashing some fancy leather around the diamond to keep Dedham Savings opponents off the scoreboard. Offense is still the name of the game, though, and the “Greaney Girls”, Georgia and Isabella have combined with the other half of the Coyle Connection, Catherine, to spray the ball all over the place and create runs at a frantic pace. The coaches are already lamenting the end of the Dedham Savings season as they have thoroughly enjoyed the effort and time the girls have put forth this spring!

For those who have been around Dedham softball, the Roche Brothers team managers Tom Salemy and Joe Florio, must seem like Brothers themselves as they work so well together with their gang on and off the field. Ciara Bolotte and Maggie Delaney have made pitching decisions easy for the Roche Brothers squad as all they seem to do is throw great stuff inning after inning. Perhaps that is due to the quality behind the dish for Roche Brothers, and with Lucia Florio, Sydney Salemy, and Ciara holding down that end of the game, it’s easy to see how tough Roche Brothers is to get a hit off of. Hannah Wilcox and Alicia Pinet have kept opposing teams flustered with their “wheels” around the bases, while Molly Goonan and Julia Salemy’s “big sticks” at the plate light up the Roche’s scoreboard on a nightly basis. Lastly for Roche’s is their defense, but with Alexandra Kokinis, Kira Pinet, and Saorise Glynn performing like they do in the field, perhaps it shouldn’t have been listed last as their gloves have seemingly snagged everything that comes near them!

Rounding out the stellar play on the field from 10U is the Trethewey Brothers crew and their fearless leaders, Matt Keyes and Paul Chaplin. Hustle, hustle, and more hustle have been the Trethewey calling card, and if you had a team with Nieve Chaplin, Sophia MacKinnon, and Ella Chaplin that’s how you would play and manage too! Their hustling is complimented at the plate by the hitting discipline of Lauren Mackin and Julia MacLean and the sheer power of “swing machines” Brooke McMurtry and Kiera Banik. After they have tattooed the ball every inning Trethewey turns it over to the pitching prowess of Kassidy Hickey, Taylor Peckham, and Rylee Keyes and they use their full arsenal as they hurl to Alaina Aiello and “I can do both” Rylee behind the plate for Trethewey to keep the opponents off the board.

Looking ahead as the season winds down, the coaches of Trethewey Brothers, Roche Brothers, and Dedham Savings are all proud of what the girls have done on the field, but more importantly, are appreciative of the day in and day out effort they have given and the fun that they have had. Don’t let these next couple of weeks go by as you have until June 12 to catch all of the great DGS action at all levels as the Spring season wraps up and the girls will start getting ready for summer and tourney action. Make sure and check out www.dedhamgs.com to see what is going on and what is coming up for Dedham Girls Softball!
