Great Softball Spring Players and Teams Feted at Greenlodge!

A great spring softball season was remembered and enjoyed as DGSL coaches, players, and families convened at Greenlodge School for their annual year end awards party!

DGSL Says Congrats and Goodbye to Spring Season!

Dedham Girls Softball dodged the raindrops as best they could this past Monday and wrapped up their season on the field. Off the field, though, they weren't done as they gathered down at Greenlodge School on Wednesday night to honor their players and teams at each of the 8U, 10U, and 14U level. Pizza and drinks courtesy of DGSL started the evening and then Director Frank Bolotte proceeded to emcee the evening and honor the players and teams starting with the 8U level. Players from all of our sponsors' teams like TGIFridays, Sportography, Whole Foods American Legion Post 18, and Play it Again Sports were honored for their hustle and the great play and talents they showed down at Sugrue all season long. Parents and teammates beamed all nite as many great highlights and memories were remembered during Frank's presentation of the 8U ceremony and the awards that the players earned and deserved.

From there we moved up to to 10U and at this level each team honors who they feel is their Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Most Improved Player (MIP). Roche Brothers started off the 10Us by properly recognizing Julia Salemy as their MVP and Maggy Delaney as MIP. Dedham Savings was up next and they proudly saluted their MIP Sarah Goode and the team MVP Ally Flagg. Trethewey Brothers wrapped up the 10U portion of the program and their team and coaches were happy to see Kassidy Hickey take home the MVP and Sarah MacKinnon receive her well deserved MIP award.

The end of the night was culminated by 14U who had their great teams recognized as well. Andrews Trucking proudly announced Corinne Downey as their MVP and Laura Berry and the team's MIP. The Attorney Chris Cawley squad was next in line and the choices of Erin Gilmour as MVP and Francesca "Lulu" Gentile as MIP were no surprise to anyone in the crowd. Finishing up the awards was the Needham Bank gang,l and they were cheered for their choices of Kayleigh Spencer as MIP and team MVP Molly Egan.

The Spring Season is complete but the softball is just getting started for many of the girls. This weekend will find the 10U and 12U tournament teams starting their tourney season down in Abington. They will then go on to another tourney in Dighton at the end of the month as they sharpen their skills against some of the areas best teams while striving to bring home titles for DGS! Don't worry if you think the tournament team is the only game in town, as the Hockomock Summer Softball League opens up their 6 week 10 game season at the 10U, 12U, and 18U levels with home games being played at Sugrue Field (10 and 12s) and Condon Park (18) through the rest of June and into July, so with all this softball keep an eye on www.dedhamgs.com and all the local media outlets to find out how our girls are playing!
