DGS & DEDHAM JUNIOR WOMENS' CLUB HAVE A GREAT OPENING NIGHT

Dedham Junior Women's Club paired up with Dedham Girls Softball for a great night of softball and pizza this past Friday as DGS officially "opened" their season under the lights at Memorial!

Spring finally stayed in the air long enough this past Friday and allowed for Dedham Girls Softball to have their "Opening Night" down at Sullivan Field. Sponsored by the Dedham Junior Women's Club, the night was full of laughs and fun as team photos were taken, great music provided by DJ Wadman, pizza and refreshments were devoured (courtesy of DJWC) and some great softball was played at the 10U and 14U level.

After a strike "right down the middle" from DJWC Member Lisa MacKinnon the 10U squads of Trethewey Bros and Roche Bros took the field under a great sunset and perfect weather. Coach Keyes' Trethewey squad would come out on top in a spirited battle over Coach Salemy's Roche Bros girls as the air took on a chill and the lights were flipped on. Fortunately there was plenty of softball left to keep the fans warm as the second battle of the night had Needham Bank match up with Andrews Trucking under the lights.

Befitting the great play on the field, Park and Rec's "Superman" Bob Stanley showed he could help the BoSox on short notice with a great first pitch. After that, Coach Egan's Needham Bank went back and forth with Coach Kelly's Andrews Trucking gang until Andrews would prevail with a late rally. Regardless of the outcome it was a great night that started with the DGS/Little League parade Sunday and games all week between all the Dedham teams and our "guest opponents" from Parkway Girls Softball.

The softball doesn't stop though as the girls, after many started their Summer and Tournament seasons Sunday, were right back on the field then and all this week as they are deep into the Spring Season. Keep an eye on The Patch,  www.dedhamgs.com, Facebook, and other sources with updates and recaps of all the great action on  and off the field!
