Dedham Girls Softball Closes Book on a Great 2012 Spring Season!

The last week of Spring 2012 for Dedham Girls Softball closed another great campaign and caused for some final thoughts and thanks to those who played and made it happen!

Another Successful Dedham Girls Softball Campaign in the Books!

This past week found the teams of DGS wrapping up there 2012 Spring Season. Coaches, players, parents, and sponsors will look back and remember the fun, the games, the sportsmanship, the laughs, and all of the memories that they gave each other over the last 6 weeks. Many of the players will now move on to summer and tournament ball that will grace the field of Dedham and eastern Massachusetts all summer long proud of the foundation and experiences that spring gave them. As the spring softball season came to a close, the rainy weather did not dampen the spirits of the 10U Trethewey Brothers Blue Diamonds.  After a rainout on Monday, TBros and Dedham Savings were able to get in their final game of the season on Wednesday although both were short staffed.  As they were all season long, the Blue Diamonds were led on the mound by Caroline Coyle and Kassidy Hickey.  Both settled in and turned it great performances, and each struck out the side once.  In the field, TBros again received solid games from Ally Flagg, Rylee Keyes, and Kira Pinet.  At the plate, the bats came alive in the season finale that showcased the hard work and practice the girls and coaches put in.  Great at bats were turned in by Collen Corsi and Kayla Romig, whose hot streak at the plate continued as she had a solid RBI hit to drive in Coyle to lead off the game.  Although Megan Collins and Kate Saleda were unable to attend this game, their performances all season in the field and at the plate caused them to be sorely missed.  Late season injuries kept Alyssa Eliot and Kasey Corrado out of the lineup, but both were key factors in the TBros success this season and will look to get back on the field as soon as they are healed.  Special thanks also to Sydney and Julia Salemy donning the TBros blue to fill in and allow the game to be played.  Both were welcome additions. Coaches John Coyle and Matt Keyes, along with dugout manager Marianne Saleda, were thrilled not only with the season results, but with the great effort and dedication the girls showed.   Finally, thanks to Trethewey Brothers for their generous sponsorship - without them it couldn’t happen!!

That thought brings us, as DGS, to again thank all of the people who made DGS a great success this year. Coaches who gave up their valuable time, parents who shuttled their girls all over regardless of the schedule changes & made sure equipment was always ready to go, and the Sponsors who made the league an affordable, well managed and run organization. Dedham Savings, Needham Bank, Attorney Chris Cawley, The Cooperative Bank, Dedham Post 18, Hyde Park Savings, Roche Brothers, Tretheway Brothers, TGiFriday’s, Prime Motor Group, Cherokee Trophy, Play it Again Sports, Keldara Spa, Whole Foods Legacy Place, Prime Time Sports, Dedham Junior Women’s Club, Bradbury Fence, Kings, Hope McDermott Real Estate……TO ALL OF YOU FROM DEDHAM GIRLS SOFTBALL: A MILLION THANKS AND SEE YOU ON THE FIELD AGAIN SOON!!!
