10th Annual Pumpkin Bowl Crowns its Champs and Thanks Sponsors for Great Weekend!

A beautiful end of summer weekend was had by hundreds of Dedham Girls Softball friends, families, players, and sponsors as the 10th Annual Pumpkin Bowl took place last Friday night and all day Saturday at Memorial Field (with some help from Leowen Field and Condon Park).

Nine teams from area groups and businesses battled it out over the 2 days in a A and B Division Co-Ed one pitch softball tournament that doubles as DGSL's major yearly fund-raiser. This year's champs were crowned late in the afternoon Saturday after a dozen or so games played at the various fields. The A Division Champs for 2012 were the "Shamrocks" while the B Division trophy was taken home by your own Dedham Town Hall!

While those 2 teams got the confetti, parade, and "trip to Disney", the tourney wouldn't have been as fun without the other seven teams who played. Team Teehan and Cushman Tree helped fill out the A bracket while the B's had Team Tiki, the Guzzlers, the DGS parents Red Solo Cups, Dedham Youth Baseball, and the Village (Manor) Idiots.

All 9 teams played inspired and entertaining ball while having fun, making and renewing friends, and helping DGS raise money. Speaking of money, A good chunk was raised by the great concession stand (and thanks go to) run by Mary and Brian Mitchell with help of DGS Summer and Fall team players, along with great help and support from Bob Stanley and "EMac" of Dedham Parks and Rec Department!

Most importantly though, and our GREATEST THANKS need to go to, is the help and support of our sponsors/supporters.
