You Ask, Patch Answers: Is Dedham District Convenience Open?

The store front is still stocked with items but there are no hours of operations. Patch finds out if Dedham District Convenience is still open.

From June 2012 to June 2013, the board of selectmen were trying to get the operating hours for Dedham District Convenience in Dedham Square in order to justify the liquor license that was given.  One June 5, the store's license was finally revoked due to the owner failing to submit hour of operations to the board.  But is the store still open?

Patch tried to visit Peter Makarious at the store location during the day, but it was closed.

According to the town, the selectmen can not enforce hours of operations on a business.  But there is an exception.

"The board can control the hours based on the alcohol license issue only," Town Administrator Bill Keegan said.

However, we still wanted to know when the store will be open.  The owner wouldn't talk with us, but his lawyer Peter Zahka did respond.

"It is my understanding that for a few weeks prior to June 5, 2013, the establishment was open at least 6 days a week from about 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.," Zahka said.

But after the selectmen meeting on June 5, he no longer has any knowledge on his client's current or future plans.
