In between helping customers with moving furniture, DC Consignments owner Michael Hajjar, spoke about the high end consignment business, estate sales, designer handbags and more.
The Dedham store opened in January of 2012, and Hajjar, originally from Cohasset, now living in Quincy, opened the first DC Consignments store in Natick in 2009.
"DC Consignments – more or less what we do is we consign high end women fashion, handbags, accessories, and what makes makes us different is we do mens clothes, furniture, and estate sales," said Hajjar to Patch.
Hajjar, who's grandfather started the mens retail store, Hajjar's Big and Tall, had a background in finance before going into the consignment business.
Hajjar said the attention to details separates DC Consignments from other businesses.
"If you think about it, we’re taking in used clothes. We are valuing (used items). We attract high end inventory and sell them at reasonable prices," said Hajjar, adding some of the designer brands you'll see in the store at 910 Providence Highway, include: Louis Vitton, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Michael Kors, and Chloe.
In the back of the store is the furniture section.
"It’s consigned. We look at unique, quality furniture," said Hajjar. "Real wood and quality unique estate-like furniture, which implies not the big box (stores)."
People are also welcome to make appointments to consign, and check out www.DCConsignments.com for information on trend reports for what's popular season to season if you want to sell items.
Hajjar said one thing that's come into style again is fur coats. So if you've got any of those laying around make an appointment with DC Consignments, or just check out the goods!
