Heirloom Kitchen Wants to Bring Back Family Dinners

When Gerald Coakley was working full-time as a lawyer, it was difficult for Coakley and his wife to make a meal with a busy work schedule.  That's when he decided to pursue Heirloom Kitchen.

"When my wife and I had two kids it was very hard to get a good healthy meal on the table. And I was checking to see if there was anything like this- and there wasn't," Coakley said. "This is something that I wished existed."

The restaurant would feature family-size take-out meals that are locally sourced and designed "for the modern working family."

Coakley already had experience working in a restaurant as a sous chef in Cape Cod.  So he has made it a goal to create healthy and delicious meals that won't break the bank.

"I want the food to be really good and really tasty," he said. "And I'll make sure all of the meal options are affordable."

The business is still working on the menu but hopes to offer roasted chicken, ribs, soups and fresh made salads.  And the hot meals will come ready to eat or frozen so you can just pop it in the oven.

"I'm hoping that with this restaurant, I can bring back family dinners," he said. "I want to bring families back to the table."

Heirloom Kitchen is expected to open in June at 125 Washington St. in Dedham.
