Exclusive: Cheeky Diva Moving to Easton After 5 Years in Dedham Square

The boutique will relocate after a string of concerns including construction in Dedham Square and raised rent.

After many days, and countless hours of thinking Cheeky Diva owner Jacqueline Getz says she has regretfully chosen to relocate her Bryant Street-Washington Street location to Easton.

She said has enjoyed her five years of business in Dedham and found the decision difficult to make.

During her five years, she had made many friends, and enjoyed the many programs Dedham has had to offer.

"I have deep roots in Dedham and will miss it dearly," she told Patch Wednesday.

Cheeky Diva will become the second Dedham Square shop to close in less than a month after Uniquely Global closed in September.

She said she can remember her grandmother Florence Getz working in Dedham half of her life and loves the town, but certain circumstances made it difficult to stay.

Getz said other merchants in Dedham Square along with Legacy Place where very supportive of her from promotions to just overall kindness.

Just recently Legacy Place invited and spotlighted her in the "Strike a Pose" Fashion Show at Kings.

Unfortunately, the raised rent, ongoing construction and detours in the Square also took a toll on her business, Getz said in an interview

The opening of Legacy Place brought many new patrons her way as well, but made it a bit difficult for them too when it came to convenience, she said.

"They can go to Legacy Place [to] park, shop, and eat all in one, in a really close proximity," she said. "When it comes to me, Cheeky Diva is a one-stop shop boutique."

Getz said she has tried for five years to stand alone, but now is beginning to network with her business.

Her hope is that with the new location, it will assist in the growth of her brand name more, along with the overall love of the line and its products.

"I believe this relocation is instrumental in the growth of the business overall and will lead to new opportunities," Getz said.

The new Easton location - at 163 Washington St. - as an adventure, and has faith in the ability of a neighboring tanning parlor and hair salon and spa to complement each other's businesses.

The new store will open Tuesday, Nov. 9, while her Dedham
store will close Oct. 23.

Cheeky Diva will hold a sale to show appreciation of everything Dedham has done.

With tears in her eyes Getz said, "I will miss this place, the people, and the overall atmosphere here, which made the decision so hard.

"I just really want everyone to understand how it hurts me to leave, but realize they are always welcome and will forever be remembered."
