Dedham Square Country Store Adding More Hours

Country Store to permanently open on Wednesdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. every week.

For the past two years, customers have always hinted at the same question, “When are you going to open more?”

However, it has been hard to tell them anything at all for an answer. With Proprietor Greg Jr., handing a full time job at Dedham Television and his father, Greg Sr., working days at Schortmann Insurance and nights managing LemonThyme Farm, being able to provide an accurate answer to our customers became a bit of a challenge.

As Nov. 2012 came closer, the Country Store became comfortable in allowing the store to operate under the supervision of Joe and Dennis, both long-time contributors of the Store, and friends of the Agnew family.

Nov. also brought thoughts of families scrambling trying to find the perfect Thanksgiving meal to serve to their family and friends, and we knew we needed to be helpful and offer more hours for customers needing the fresh ingredients that we provide on a weekly basis.

Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 12 p.m. will mark the first day other than Sunday that the store will be open for operation.

On Wednesday, the Country Store will be offering fresh, not frozen turkeys from Stonewood Farm in Vermont. These turkeys contain no preservatives, GMOs, hormones, or nitrates and are available for pre order on Wednesday in time for in-store pickup the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

The store will continue to offer produce on a limited basis, however, CSA customers will not be able to regularly pick up their farm share on Wednesday, pick up days will remain on Sunday mornings and afternoons.

However, store offerings on Wednesday (apart from the CSA) will remain the same: fresh baked goods, artisan cheeses, seafood, pasta, dairy products, and collectable items will all remain available.

Opening on Wednesdays would not be an option if it hadn’t been for the help of our Contributors Joe, Dennis, William, Frannie, Al, Sonia, Louie, and Alicia. Our entire Country Store family hopes that if Wednesday is a successful as Sunday, we can continue to open and move closer to a more traditional retail model.

In addition, in just a few weeks, the Country Store will be starting a kickstarter.com crowd-funding project to increase our food and beverage options, as well as adding more refrigerated storage.
